About the Nominee: Angela Sievers doesn't simply teach her students; she loves them like her own children. Every student in her class knows she loves them. She builds positive relationships with her students and provides a classroom environment that is safe and engaging. Her first grade students use iPads and Chromebooks to do many different projects in the classroom. The students in her class are challenged academically and show high levels of growth. Mrs. Sievers ensures students receive instruction based on their abilities. She will do whatever it takes to see her students succeed. For example, she has taken many pies to the face and water balloons to motivate her students to learn sight words!
Mrs. Sievers is a teacher leader, not only in her school, but in her district. She has presented numerous technology training sessions for her school and district, as well as at the state level. She is on her district's curriculum writing team, where she writes curriculum for first grade. Mrs. Sievers has also served on various committees for her district, including Project Lead the Way, Strategic Planning and Common Core Curriculum. She is a mentor for teachers in her school and district. Many teachers come to see her teach and learn from her. She will volunteer for anything when asked and is a LifeChanger in the community.
